ॐ पराशर ऋषये नमः

Objectives

The Parāśara Jyotiṣa Course (PJC) is to be taught in the tradition of Puri, India and includes spiritual instructions to develop the mind in order to grasp the entire subject. The student is to develop a keen understanding of Vedic astrology and will master all the śloka of Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra (BPHS).
The syllabus primarily includes the jyotiṣa classic Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra as available today. The various chapters are grouped into 28 topics to be covered in four years for the certification as Jyotiṣa Paṇḍita.

Description

The course for each academic year will start on the first Thursday after Makara Sankranti, 2024. The course is based on the recordings of live classes given by Pandit Sanjay Rath over a period of 5 years. The annual fee entitles the student to access the website with these recordings according to their academic year. Such access will be available for two years after enrollment and can be renewed after that time for a small fee.

The Mentor for the 2024 batch of students will be Sarbani Rath assisted by four Upadhyaya.

  1. Jyoti Narang
  2. Ritu Khurana
  3. Alexandra Smith
  4. Neeti Tamta

Sarbani will hold a tutorial/webinar once a month or more frequently if required. Some tutorials will be conducted by the Upadhaya – every week to keep up with the lessons in the course

There will also be a 10 day (at least) contact class every year. Attendance at the tutorials and the contact class is optional. The annual contact class will be held in India.

Devaguru Bṛhaspati Center has opened admissions for fresh batch of students to start its prestigious Parāśara Jyotiṣa Course from the Academic Year 2024. Unlike other colleges where the application is generic, DBC requires that the student should be accepted by a mentor for learning vedāñga jyotiṣa.

A mentor is a jyotiṣa guru who will guide you through the course.

Payments and refunds

Can I pay in instalments?
It is at the discretion of your Course Creator whether to allow you to pay tuition fees in instalments. We recommend that you send a comprehensive mail seeking permission for instalment payment before the start of the academic year if you would like to pay in instalments.

What if I withdraw from my course, am I eligible for a refund?
If you decide to withdraw from your course, you will generally be eligible for a refund of tuition fees for each complete term not started. If you withdraw during a term, you will be liable for fees for that term. If you are thinking about withdrawing, you should talk to your Scholar guide and Course Liaison to discuss your options.

What if I suspend from my course, am I eligible for a refund?
The same rules apply for suspension as for withdrawal except that you can request that Devaguru Brihaspati Center retains the fees paid to be credited against the fees that will be due when you return. When you return you will need to pay any outstanding balance of fees.

I’m paying my fees with a tuition fee loan. If I withdraw, will I still have access to it?
Different rules apply for private loans taken for studies and you should consult with the bank which has given you the loan for this purpose.

What happens if I don’t pay my fees?
If you don’t pay your tuition fees, you will be suspended from your course and from access to all facilities. You will not be allowed to sit any exams or submit any coursework. If you are having difficulty paying your fees, we recommend you talk to your Scholar guide or Course Liaison (if you have not opted for accreditation) at the earliest opportunity.

I think I’ve been charged the wrong fee, what should I do?
You should contact your Scholar guide or Course Liaison (if you have not opted for accreditation) in the first instance. Your Scholar guide will contact DBC and your fee will be investigated. If you are not satisfied with the result of the investigation, you may petition the Course Creator at DBC (Pt. Sanjay Rath). Requests for refunds will not normally be considered more than one year after the fee has been paid.
